Im the planner, thinker and doer behind Inspired Event Co.

I’ve always loved all things organization and planning – my friends used to tease me in high school for needing not one, but two diaries to plan my days. I’ve also always been creative, and after school I went to Victoria University, and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Film Production and Creative Writing.

I spent a couple years as a retail manager, loving both the customer service, and the operational management. I wanted to marry that with my creative skills, story-telling, and dreaming. My combined skills in these two areas confirmed for me that my dream job was event planning, and I completed an Advanced Diploma in Wedding and Event planning from the New Zealand Academy of Wedding and Event Planning.

I’ve been in the event industry for over seven years. I am supremely organized, creative, goal-orientated, and above all, passionate. My experience is broad and varied, ranging from weddings, to industry conferences, to art shows, to large-scale fundraising events, and even to half marathons! I can craft you a budget, draw you a floorplan, write up your runsheet and negotiate with your vendors. I can help with design, entertainment and social media, and appear beside you on the day with the safety pin you didn’t know you’d need.

☔️ It’s a very dreary summer day here in the Pōneke. Big day coming up while the forecast is wet? Don’t stress - some of the most magical moments happen in the rain! 
💕 Here are a few tips to make it special:�1️⃣ Rainy day photos are stunning—perfect light! �2️⃣ Clear umbrellas are your best friend for chic, dry pics.�3️⃣ Always have a wet weather plan, no matter how sunny the forecast looks, or sunny it usually is it at your location! �4️⃣ Make sure your guests are comfy—provide umbrellas or ponchos, and warm them if there will be a grass surface so they can dress accordingly. �5️⃣ Remember: a little rain means good luck, so dance through it! 💃�No matter what the weather brings, it’s YOUR day, and it will be unforgettable!

A couple of days ago I was talking to a client who was about to start her wedding dress shopping.
She said “how will I know it’s the one?!” 

And I said…”you might not.” 

I wasn’t saying she wouldn’t find a stunning dress….just that the “aha!” moment is another expectation media sets up for brides-to-be. You can be left feeling disappointed if you have the expectation of an epiphany moment that you’ve seen on “Say Yes To The Dress.”

There are hundreds of stunning wedding dresses at every budget, so to help with the decision fatigue, here are some tips:

👗 Expect to find multiple dresses you love, and have to choose. 
🕣 take your time with the decision! Walk away from the dresses and see which sticks in your head after a day or two.
👯‍♀️ Don’t take too many people to your try-ons. Too many conflicting opinions can make you lose sight of what you like the best.
⛪️ Think about your venue and plans - do you need a dress you can walk on the beach in? Do an eloborate dance in? Do you need something that looks good layered with a fur for a winter wedding?

Say you to the dress, with less stress!

First event of the year ✅
I’m so lucky to be able to work for some of Aotearoa’s incredible volunteer firefighters.
Also very lucky to be in my hometown for this event, and have four generations of whanau checking out the action.

Went a bit quiet on socials post wainuihillrun but there was a lot going on behind the scenes!

Delivering a 650 person conference, MCed by the amazing Jenny-May Clarkson.
Lots and lots of zoom.
Getting to just play attendee at lots of fabulous events, like dollyalderton, a silverfernsnz win, weddings, and most importantly toitu_te_tiriti at Parliament. 
Bringing Santa Magic to my very favourite four year old, celebrating my wonderful parents’ 40th wedding anniversary in Taupo, and some lovely R&R.

Can’t wait to get into mahi on the 6th and deliver some more event magic this year.

Alex made planning our wedding so much less stressful and overwhelming. We came to her when we had no idea where to start or what we wanted. She helped set us up with a budget, helped us work out what we needed to organise first, what our options were, and sorted out our catering. Her creative ideas, taste, and advice were impeccable and she was kind and professional throughout, no matter how many questions we fired her way. We were so happy with our wedding day and owe a lot of that to Alex’s help. We also used her gorgeous green wall in our reception area behind our head table. The wall looked beautiful in person and in our photos and really pulled the look of our reception area together.
